Introducing… Rebecca Duke
Rebecca joined the company as one of our Resident Artists this year! We asked her a few questions about who she is and what she’s all about.
Tell us a little about yourself and the work that you do.
I’m a 20 year old playwright from Tasmania studying PPE/Arts at ANU. I’m not sure about my style as a writer yet but I always hope my work is serious, funny and romantic.
How did you discover your interest in theatre?
I would boss my sister around in plays I’d written before I even started school.
What do you think is important for young people/young artists in 2020?
I think 2020 has reminded us of the fragility of our norms and structures. It’s important for young artists to know we have the strength to change and protect our world.
What are you most excited for in your new role as Resident Artist?
Meeting new friends and collaborators.
What have you been reading/watching/listening to while things have been shut down?
I’m watching way too much Ru Paul’s Drag Race, talking back at podcasts and reading T Kira Madden’s magnificent Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls.
